Amazon.com (AMZN) said today it has extended the free shipping deadline for delivery by Christmas.
Customers may order by December 19 and received Amazon’s free shipping offer, for orders of $25 or more, and still be guaranteed delivery by December 25. Customers may place orders closer to the holiday, but will have to pay for shipping on any size order.
Amazon has said its Kindle Fire device has seen strong sales this holiday season, as the best selling item on its website.
The Fire competes with Barnes and Noble’s (BKS) Nook, Sony’s (SNE) e-reader, and others, and may even take some attention away from Apple’s (AAPL) iPad this holiday.
Amazon said yesterday it will offer a software update for the Fire.
Amazon shares are trading lower Tuesday morning.
