Art world left reeling as new da Vinci painting discovered

It has been called the rarest thing imaginable, a newly discovered painting by the iconic Renaissance master Leonardo da Vinci, which has sent shockwaves through the art world.

The "Salvator Mundi" painting was for years thought to be a painting by one of the master's pupils or associates, but was recently authenticated as a da Vinci after a painstaking period of study and conservation.
